Hartley Bay, BC — Gitga’at Development Corporation (GDC) is proud to announce the launch of its new Post-Secondary Scholarship & Bursary Fund, a new initiative designed to support Gitga’at students as they pursue higher education and build successful careers.
Guided by the principle “Smhawksa na Sumaxsm” — Believe in our young people, the fund reflects GDC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the Nation by investing in its future leaders.
The Post-Secondary Scholarship & Bursary Fund will provide financial assistance to eligible Gitga’at students who demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to giving back to their community. Awards typically range from $1,000 to $2,500 per academic year, helping students offset the costs of tuition, books, housing, transportation, food, childcare, and other educational expenses.
In addition to financial support, recipients may also have access to mentorship opportunities, networking events, and professional development resources designed to help them succeed throughout their educational journey and beyond.
“Education creates opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and our Nation,” said a spokesperson for Gitga’at Development Corporation. “By supporting our students today, we’re helping develop tomorrow’s business leaders, engineers, managers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who will help shape the future of the Gitga’at community.”
